Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.
Also known locally as the knobbly knee mangrove. Old trees develop knee roots which grow upward from the underground root system and allow the exchange of gases in oxygen-poor sediments. It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is
listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.
Reported at 13 Fraser Coast localities: Pacific Haven, Great Sandy Strait, Maryborough, Granville, River Heads, Tinnanbar, Tandora, Poona, Point Vernon, Beaver Rock, Tuan, Tuan Forest, Pialba.
