Species information

Malaisia scandens subsp. scandens   (Lour.) Planch.

This native vine or climber is commonly known as burnie vine.

Malaisia scandens subsp. scandens is described as a "dicot" in the Moraceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Malaisia Blanco, a monotypic genus with only one species, Malaisia scandens (Lour.) Planch., has been reinstated by Clement & Weiblen (2009) based on the molecular phylogenetic evidence. Replaces Trophis scandens (Queensland Flora Census 2023). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.

Reported at 51 Fraser Coast localities: Dundowran Beach, Dundathu, Craignish, Pacific Haven, Urraween, Takura, Toogoom, Point Vernon, Aldershot, Duckinwilla, Tiaro, River Heads, Howard, Yengarie, Kanigan, Bauple Forest, Glenwood, Granville, Bidwill, Teddington, Yerra, Gigoomgan, Bauple, Glenorchy, Mungar, Paterson, Maryborough, Tinana, Talegalla Weir, Magnolia, Malarga, Boompa, Tuan Forest, Tandora, Owanyilla, Doongul, Pioneers Rest, K'gari, St Mary, Eli Waters, Mount Urah, Walkers Point, Gundiah, Tinana South, Poona, Burrum Heads, Glenbar, Booral, Urangan, Gootchie, Woocoo.
