Plants of the Fraser Coast Region

This native groundcover is commonly known as hairy jewel orchid.

Zeuxine oblonga is described as a "monocot" in the Orchidaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Uncommon in the Fraser Coast region recorded on K'gari. Reported at Tinnanbar. A small, slender plant with a basal semi-rosette of ovate-elliptical 2-3 X 1-1.5cm long leaves above ground level. Flower stem 10-20cm high with 8-25 5mm long brown flowers with a yellow and white labellum. It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.
