Species information

Cyperus polystachyos var. polystachyos   Rottb.

This native groundcover is commonly known as bunchy sedge.

Cyperus polystachyos var. polystachyos is described as a "monocot" in the Cyperaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

This is the only variety recorded in the region.  Regarded as a wetland species in Queensland WetlandInfo.

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.

Reported at 30 Fraser Coast localities: Duckinwilla, Craignish, Takura, Walligan, Point Vernon, Poona, K'gari, Tinnanbar, Dundowran Beach, Bauple Forest, Tuan Forest, Tinana, Talegalla Weir, Burrum Heads, Maryborough, Booral, Yengarie, Beelbi Creek, River Heads, Maaroom, Tinana South, Teddington, Owanyilla, Tiaro, Sunshine Acres, Urraween, Maryborough West, Boonooroo Plains, Boompa, St Mary.
