Species information

Cyperus platystylis   R.Br.

This native aquatic plant is commonly known as freshwater sedge.

Cyperus platystylis is described as a "monocot" in the Cyperaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Uncommon in the Fraser Coast region with a disjunct record in wetland along Mary River north-east of Maryborough. Reported at Lenthalls Dam and Tiaro. Potentially an indicator of wetland health.  

It has not been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.

Reported at 2 Fraser Coast localities: Duckinwilla, Tiaro.
