Species information

Elaeocarpus obovatus subsp. obovatus   G.Don

This native tree is commonly known as hard quandong.

Elaeocarpus obovatus subsp. obovatus is described as a "dicot" in the Elaeocarpaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Domatia on the underside of some leaves in the vein angles.  

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.

Reported at 46 Fraser Coast localities: Dundathu, River Heads, Craignish, Dundowran Beach, Booral, Wondunna, Urraween, Torquay, Aldershot, Duckinwilla, Nikenbah, K'gari, Dundowran, Howard, Yengarie, Kawungan, Burrum Heads, Kanigan, Glenwood, Pialba, Mount Urah, Toogoom, Granville, Bidwill, Yerra, Gigoomgan, Glenorchy, Bauple, Paterson, Teddington, Maryborough, Tinana, Poona, Talegalla Weir, Magnolia, Tinnanbar, Malarga, Tuan Forest, Takura, Owanyilla, Doongul, Eli Waters, St Mary, Tinana South, Urangan, Tiaro.
