Species information

Fimbristylis ferruginea   (L.) Vahl

This native groundcover is commonly known as rusty fringe-rush.

Fimbristylis ferruginea is described as a "monocot" in the Cyperaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

 Regarded as a wetland species in Queensland WetlandInfo.

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.

Reported at 17 Fraser Coast localities: Craignish, Dundowran Beach, Beelbi Creek, River Heads, Yengarie, Toogoom, Boonooroo Plains, Tinana, Burrum Heads, Point Vernon, Maryborough, Tuan, Walligan, Tinana South, Tandora, Tiaro, Urraween.
