Species information

Ageratum houstonianum   Mill. WEED

This introduced groundcover is commonly known as blue billygoat weed.

Ageratum houstonianum is described as a "dicot" in the Asteraceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

As at 01/07/2016 listed as a non-declared environmental weed for the Fraser Coast region. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.

Reported at 46 Fraser Coast localities: River Heads, Dundowran Beach, Craignish, Booral, Burrum Heads, Burrum River, Wondunna, Point Vernon, Prawle, Duckinwilla, Tiaro, Yengarie, Urraween, Howard, Torbanlea, Pialba, Urangan, Takura, Bauple Forest, Walligan, Maryborough, Tuan Forest, Mount Urah, Granville, Walkers Point, Bidwill, Teddington, Yerra, Gigoomgan, Glenorchy, Bauple, Paterson, Poona, Talegalla Weir, Magnolia, Boompa, Tinana, Susan River, Owanyilla, Kawungan, Gundiah, Doongul, St Mary, Tinana South, Aldershot, Beaver Rock.
