Plants of the Fraser Coast Region

This introduced shrub is commonly known as leucaena.

Leucaena leucocephala subsp. leucocephala is described as a "dicot" in the Leguminosae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Naturalised in dense stands in some riparian areas. Listed as an invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act 2014 but not prohibited or restricted. Fraser Coast Regional Council encouraging control to be undertaken in all places other than where it is grown as fodder. Vegetative buds and new growth canescent, commonly densely so; calyx lobes densely appressed-puberulous; pod generally pubescent or only on margins (From: Holland, A.E. (2007). It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.
