Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is classified as Vulnerable.
Often occurs with Acacia complanata or Acacia suaveolens, Eucalyptus racemosa and Pteridium esculentum. Can benefit from minor disturbance including fire. Small flower buds appearing Poona April 2016 on plants 2.5 to 4.5 years old. ‘Back on Track’ high priority plant species for the Burnett Mary NRM region. Distribution in the Fraser Coast region coastal sandy areas as well as Tinana Creek (mainly on the eastern side, including in pine plantation areas). Elsewhere from Rosedale south to Burleigh Heads. Listed as a priority locally significant species in Fraser Coast (Stage 2 Threatened Spieces Action Plan. July 2019. Fraser Coast Regional Council).
It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is
listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.
Reported at 7 Fraser Coast localities: Burrum Heads, Poona, Tuan Forest, Talegalla Weir, Tinnanbar, Boonooroo Plains, Maaroom.
