Species information

Lobelia purpurascens   R.Br.

This native groundcover is commonly known as white root.

Lobelia purpurascens is described as a "dicot" in the Campanulaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Listed as a special least concern species in Queensland (https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/plants-animals/plants/protected-plants/harvesting). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.

Reported at 55 Fraser Coast localities: Takura, Dundathu, Craignish, Sunshine Acres, Urraween, Booral, Burrum Heads, Wondunna, Susan River, Urangan, Point Vernon, Cherwell, Tiaro, Duckinwilla, Pacific Haven, Walliebum, Yengarie, River Heads, Dunmora, Walligan, Dundowran Beach, Beelbi Creek, Toogoom, Mount Urah, Bidwill, Teddington, Yerra, Antigua, Gigoomgan, Bauple, Tinana, Island Plantation, Paterson, Poona, Tinnanbar, Talegalla Weir, Magnolia, K'gari, Eli Waters, Torquay, Kawungan, Walkers Point, Doongul, Maaroom, Granville, Maryborough, Howard, Tuan Forest, St Mary, Bauple Forest, Beaver Rock, Owanyilla, Teebar, Maryborough West, Boompa.
