This native shrub

large-leaved smooth psychotria.
Psychotria daphnoides var. pubescens
is described as a "dicot"
in the
Rubiaceae
family.
In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern.
Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.
Two varieties recognised. The type variety Psychotria daphnoides var. daphnoides (small-leaved smooth psychotria) distribution from Gympie southward. Psychotria daphnoides var. pubescens (large-leaved smooth psychotria) distribution from NSW to north of Rockhampton. It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is not
listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.
