Species information

Rhodamnia pauciovulata   Guymer

This native tree is commonly known as small-leaved malletwood.

Rhodamnia pauciovulata is described as a "dicot" in the Myrtaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Critically Endangered. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Reported in the Fraser Coast region in a few elevated areas at Malarga, Mt Bauple and Mt Urah. Rhodamnia species 'Glastonbury' included in Rainforest Plants of Australia (Gwen Harden, Hugh Nicholson, Bill McDonald, Nan Nicholson, Terry Tame, John Williams. 2014) but not listed in Queensland Flora Census 2024. Rhodamnia pauciovulata now regarded as restricted to the Central Mackay Coast. In the Fraser Coast region now assigned to Rhodamnia zombi. Severely impacted by myrtle rust and the species may not survive beyond the current generation (Rhodamnia zombi I.J.Paxton, Fensham & Guymer (Myrtaceae), a new species of rainforest tree from south-east Queensland Isabella J. Paxton, Roderick J. Fensham, & Gordon P. Guymer). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.

Reported at 3 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, Malarga, Mount Urah.
