Species information

Acacia disparrima subsp. disparrima   M.W.McDonald and B.R. Maslin

This native tree is commonly known as hickory wattle.

Acacia disparrima subsp. disparrima is described as a "dicot" in the Leguminosae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

In southern Queensland previously known as Acacia aulococarpa (Australian Plant Census). Usually occurs on undulating or hilly terrain in woodland to forests and along disturbed roadsides mainly along coastal and near coastal areas from Mackay south to near Coffs Harbour (Australian Systematic Botany Vol 13, 2000). Flower spikes pale yellow to lemon yellow and roundish twigs (Ernie Rider). Grows up to 12 metres tall (http://worldwidewattle.com/speciesgallery/disparrima.php?id=23931). A very common wattle in the Fraser Coast region. Flowers Jan.–May (Yengarie April 2017). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.
