Species information

Caladenia carnea   R.Br.

This native groundcover is commonly known as pink fingers.

Caladenia carnea is described as a "monocot" in the Orchidaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

A small plant with a single, erect, grass-like leaf 6-10cm high. Flower stem 8-15cm high with 1-3 pale to deep pink 2-3cm diameter flowers. Flowering period June-August. Widespread & common. Vernon C/P; Poona N/P (Maaroom & Boonooroo); Tinnanbar. (Alan Logan). Listed as a special least concern species in Queensland (https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/plants-animals/plants/protected-plants/harvesting). May be confused with Caladenia fuscata. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.

Reported at 13 Fraser Coast localities: Urangan, Sunshine Acres, Duckinwilla, Burgowan, Walliebum, Beelbi Creek, Boompa, Burrum Town, Susan River, Tinnanbar, Walligan, Maaroom, Doongul.
