Species information

Canavalia rosea   (Sw.) DC.

This native vine or climber is commonly known as coastal jack bean.

Canavalia rosea is described as a "dicot" in the Leguminosae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Usually a littoral species but has been reported inland just outside Fraser Coast region in Glenbar National Park (possibly cultivated and naturalised).  

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.

Reported at 12 Fraser Coast localities: Dundowran Beach, Point Vernon, Toogoom, River Heads, Tinnanbar, K'gari, Great Sandy Strait, Burrum Heads, Poona, Tiaro, Pialba, Urangan.
